It made me sick. The Republican Party does not need to move forward, it needs to move backward, back to Reagan. I am sick of the party trying to be inclusive. It reminds me of the church. The church is so busy trying to be inclusive that it loses its founding principles. The Republican Party is doing the same thing. They are trying to be so inclusive that it is not even recognizable any more. It has become no better than the Democratic Party. I am a Conservative, NOT a Republican! I have not changed my party affiliation officially, but I will no longer just vote the straight party ticket. I will be looking to individual candidates and will refuse to vote for anyone who stands for anything but the Constitution. My husband refused to vote for Susan Collins this past election. I, sadly, voted for her. He refused to mark her name because she did not stand for what he stands for. I am proud of him. I wish I could say the same. I felt that way about McCain and was not going to vote for him (I would not have voted for Obama either). But, because he chose Palin, I voted for him. My vote was more against Obama than it was FOR anyone. I never liked McCain. I respect what he went through in VietNam and he should be honored for his service, but that does not make him a good president. I can't believe that the Republican Party put him up as a candidate. He was no better than Hillary. Mind you, Obama is much worse than McCain, but not by much. He destroyed any credibility he had when he stopped his campaign and rushed to Washington to support the bail-outs. What?!!! I thought he was going to stand against the bail-outs. He might have had a shot in hell if he had done that, but no, he voted the same as any Democrat. It was disgusting!! I am tired of voting for the Republicans just because they are NOT the Democrats. The Republicans of late are no better. I want to be able to vote FOR something, not the lesser of the two evils, which is what we were faced with in the election last year. Since Steele doesn't get it, I don't know what we are going to do. If Republicans do not go back to their roots, then what is the alternative? I was hoping that Steele got it. He doesn't. Now what? This country is doomed if we do not find some way to get good candidates to run. Problem is, good people don't want to be put through the crap that the media puts them through just to run for public office. The best we can hope for is that the tea party movement will translate into votes for good local candidates and that from there, we can make the changes needed to move our country back to its principles. Either that, or we all move to Texas.

TEA PARTY SUCCESS!!

The Tax Day Tea Parties are over and they were a great success. Not one incident of violence occurred at any of the Tea Parties nationwide. This is not a big surprise to me. Our tea party here in Maine had about 1,000 of my fellow patriots attend and they were some of the nicest people I ever met. I was fortunate enough to get to talk individually to about 500 people and I found the attendees to be very knowledgeable when it comes to current events and very friendly. We had a few dozen kids that attended. Some were small and did not really know why they were at the park, but they had a great time. What I was really happy to see was teenagers and young adults who were passionate about standing up for their country. It gives me great hope to see the future generations of America who love their country. It is heartwarming to know that their parents are teaching them the truth. We even had several of our canine friends join us too.

Included here are two videos with pictures of our local Tea Party. We will hold another tea party on July 4th as part of a rally and cook out. We encourage families to join us for this patriotic event. I am working on making this another festive event with a chance for people to speak out to our politicians. The Tea Party is a chance for people of like-mind to get together and support each other and encourage each other to stand strong for our freedoms as outlined in the US Constitution. We gave out hundreds of pages of information, 300 pocket Constitutions and 500 American flags. We will do our best to have more Constitutions and flags as well as valuable information at the next meeting. I hope that we can double our numbers for July 4th. We are also hoping for a trip to Washington DC and we have a book club for those who want to study the 5000 Year Leap.

Happy Easter!! After overcoming some hurdles, we are well on our way to a large crowd. We are holding our party in the park across from our state capitol building in Augusta. While it is great fun to see the numbers of my group growing daily, it is a lot of work planning for a large rally. I do so look forward to the day when we can let Washington D.C. know that we have had enough. My rally will also include information from various groups that are taking steps to make changes in our state and in D.C. I want our rally to be a jumping off point, not the end of our activism. My first meeting with 20-40 new patriots is Tuesday night and I am nervous. I am not usually the stand up in front of a crowd person. Fortunately, I have a partner, Pete the Carpenter. Pete and I have been working together to pull off a huge protest for all of Maine and the USA to see that we are not all happy little sheep following Collins and Snowe wherever they go. Those Republicans in the state of Maine that voted for them are seriously regretting that move. I looked into having a Senator recalled and was disappointed to find out that my state is not one of the 18 where this can happen. Our state sovereignty bill was defeated but, Pete and I have a plan to take it to the people for a vote.

My Tea Party meet-up group has surpassed 100 people and is growing every day. We have done press releases to radio and newspapers. Pete is doing the televisions stations this week and I am hitting the blogs. Whew!

Our new charges, Krystal and Zelda are settling in nicely. Zelda has made herself quite at home, stealing the cat bed (a.k.a. our living room chair) for herself, sending the others in search of a new place to call “home” for 20 hours a day. Spot has not even raised a paw to Zelda. I guess she is now in charge. She can be a bit intimidating when she sets her green eyes on you. She has definitely brought changes to the house apparently sweeping the house in her election as top-cat. I am not sure where Cookie falls in the hierarchy but he seems to have retired from politics spending his days lounging on the sofa or soaking up sun in front of the window. (Yes, the sun has actually made a brief appearance or two giving us hope that spring will arrive soon.)

Krystal has settled in as the cat princess. She comes out from under the couch at the same time every evening expecting food and water to be brought to her. And, being the well-trained family that we are, we do so.

Phantom continues to love Spot and Spot loves both Phantom and Krystal. Spot is a young male who swings both ways – dogs and cats. Although I truly believe that Phantom thinks she is a cat. I guess if I were the only dog in a house full of cats, I might have an identity crises too.

O’Malley mopes all day awaiting his boys’ arrival home from school. McGwire stays glued to me no matter what position I am in on the couch. The couch has pretty much been my home for the last month. The first two weeks I slept on and off recovering from working. The past two weeks I have been glued to my laptop to publicize my Tea Party Group. I think my body will be in for a shock tomorrow when I take it outside to Augusta.

Once my meeting is over, I need to get working on my music paper which is due in one week. I can’t even remember what I said I would write it on. I’ll have to go on the boards and find out.

I’ll try to blog a little more often once I delegate some of these Tea Party responsibilities to others.

NOTE:
Phantom is a black lab mix
McGwire (pictured above) , Cookie, Spot, O’Malley, Zelda and Krystal are all cats.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://petsandpolitics.blogspot.com/2009/03/tax-day-tea-parties-sweeping-nation.html' title='Tax Day Tea Parties sweeping the nation! Obama is now saying that the fundamentals of this economy are strong. Is he kidding? He stated that John McCain was out of touch with reality when McCain said the same thing. Of course, that is not the only thing that Obama has changed his mind on. Or maybe he hasn’t changed his mind at all Maybe this is what he had planned all along and he was just lying to the American people when he made all those wonderful flowery speeches that got women to swoon and men to shout “Heil Hitler”: Ooops, I meant “Heil Obama”. It is actually quite frightening to look at the similarities between Hitler and Obama..

Hitler was basically a nobody who no one knew much about. He gave really good speeches that made everyone feel good as he promised everybody everything.. He promised the jobless jobs and the moneyless money and the homeless a home. No one really knew much about him except that he hung around with some radical people. But he had a great following because he made great speeches and he smiled and waved a lot. Sound familiar? Once Hitler got into power, he gradually took over the government one department at a time. He started a Youth Movement that told kids how to think and turned children against their parents. He seized power by making promises, offering better wages and jobs and advocating gun control. He promised change. Well Change is definitely what the German population got. Of course, the Jews got the worst end of the change. But all this took place with the media looking on enamored with his rhetoric.

There were those who objected to Hitler, those that protested and warned other Germans about what kind of man Hitler really was. Even Winston Churchill, not yet Prime Minister, warned the world about him. But Churchill was ridiculed for his views and was decried in the House of Lords and deemed to be an alarmist. But Churchill was right.

We, as Americans, need to take a stand now while we still have some freedoms left. We can take to the streets in protest. We can send letters and tea bags to congress. We can band together and vote out of office the followers of the Obama-mania. While Obama may not be exterminating Jews, who knows what he has in mind for this country. His right hand man, Rohm Emmanuel, stated that we should never waste a good crisis. In just 54 days, Obama has spent trillions of dollars to ram his policies and the policies of the House and Senate down our throats, like it or not. He is moving quickly before the American public wakes up and realizes what has happened to our nation, our freedoms and our liberties.

Glenn Beck and his “We Surround Them” and 9/12 Project is a good start. The best and most organized group I have found is the Independence Caucus. This group has its act together and is prepared to move nationwide, now. The group is not Republican or Democrat. They are going after incumbents who have voted for all these stimulus bills, regardless of party. They are selling tea bags to the country to send to our legislators. Once each congressional district has reached 1,000 tea bags, a coordinated effort will take place. A representative from each district will bring the media and take the tea bags (with the names of the constituents that sponsored them) to the local district office. Included will be a letter and a DVD explaining to that legislator that they are about to be voted out of office since we are about to expose their dirty little secrets – the money that they have taken and the influence that money has purchased on behalf of lobbyists in Washington. With an Omnibus bill of almost 9,000 earmarks, it will be very easy to expose them for what they really are and who they are really representing; certainly not us, not their constituents who voted them in. This will be a coordinated effort that will take place simultaneously throughout the country.

I am very excited about this project. It will officially launch on Friday, March 20th, but you can get onboard now by joining your local groups through the Independence Caucus Website (see the right side of this page for the link). In the meantime, while we are still selling tea bags, keep going to those tea parties. There are at least 150 of them that are scheduled nationwide. If you want to send your own tea bag to your “leaders” you can purchase specially designed postcards from eBay that are a full-color, 8.5” x 5.5” sized postcard that tells congress to abide by the constitution and that our anger is brewing and a revolution is starting. If you want to view the postcard, send me your email and I will send you the proof. They are at the printers now and should arrive in the next few days for shipment to you. If you like the postcard and want to order some, you can click on the link to the right to purchase postcards. Let your voice be heard.

The First Puppy

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; A what? Can’t Obama buy American instead of bringing in an immigrant? This dog is kind of an obscure breed, especially for Obama who seems to go with the most popular thing. Maybe he chose the breed because there are a liberal amount of them available in the shelter. Didn’t he say he was getting a rescue dog?

This shelter dog is set to “arrive” in April. Arrive from where, I do not know. Malia and Sasha have to wait until they get back from their April vacation. I am just happy for them and thrilled that they can afford to go on vacation when the rest of the country is in a recession.

Apparently, Obama got the breed idea from Sen. Ted Kennedy who has the same breed. I guess liberalism is not the only thing the President is emulating from Kennedy.

Personally, I am not that thrilled with the idea of the President potty-training his dog in the White House. How many puddles do you think the first puppy will make on the 208-year old carpets? What about chewing? Do you think the first puppy will take a bite out of Lincoln’s bed?

It seems that the Portuguese Water Dog needs constant exercise. I guess Obama can hire a couple of Dog-nannies with the stimulus money. At least someone will get a job out of it. Of course, like the other jobs created with our money, it is temporary. At least the dog will have plenty of pork to chew on. Heck, Congress and the Senate have created enough pig’s ears for a whole fleet of first dogs.

The AKC Website states that “The Portuguese Water Dog once existed all along Portugal's coast, where it was taught to herd fish into nets, to retrieve lost tackle or broken nets, and to act as a courier from ship to ship, or ship to shore." I doubt that even this dog can retrieve the broken economy and our lost freedoms.

The dogs’ coat is thick, hypoallergenic, non-shedding and waterproof. This is a good thing since Malia is allergic to dogs and when President Obama cries over his falling poll numbers and the crashing economy he won’t get the dog wet.

According to the AKC, the water dog’s temperament can be a major problem, either acting shyly or being vicious. I guess the dog is as two faced as his master – promising one thing and doing another. On second thought, seems like this dog will fit right in. I just hope President Obama does a better job vetting his dog than he does his Cabinet.

For more about this dog, checkout this website: http://www.akc.org/breeds/portuguese_water_dog
